RANK BEER RATING (10) JUDGE'S COMMENTS

1 Cascade Premium Lager 8.7 Aromatic with a capuccino head and a pilsener colour, clean, crisp, yeasty flavour, vibrant as a golden summer afternoon and fresh as mountain water; too clear for the taste of some.
2 Caffreys Ale (Ireland) 8.42 The Vampirella of beers, almost too gorgeous to be real or a Pamela Anderson cariacture of itself; intensely smooth and creamy but a little clammy at times too. Buttery and rich but it seems almost fake too.
3 Heineken 8.10 Almost thin, clear honey-blonde, flowery, left-jabby, almost a little cloying but similar to the Cascasde in colour. A genteel beer, clean and refreshingly crisp.
4 Crown Lager 7.82 A head like Waimea Bay, a pretentious beer for an unpretentious man, amber-like, where's the prehistoric insects embedded inside? Rich with a hint of beer nuts
5 Victoria Bitter 7.54 Full and firm, earthy, of the foundry, darker like caramel, almost a touch of sienna in this beer of the bar. You could drink a lot of this beer and some members of the Society do!
6 Coopers Sparkling Ale 7.42 Intense sourdough yeastiness, like coffee scrolls; you either love its distinctive murkiness or hate it. Organically overpowering.

*About the Winner - Cascade Premium Lager is brewed in Tasmania, Australia
